The 3EM sensors from Shelly have helped indielux GmbH easily develop their revolutionary
ready2plugin power monitor technology for a regulation-compliant power increase of balcony
solar power plants to be implemented. Effective solar power generation can now take place in every household –
through systems that are simply plugged into the socket. This is a breakthrough in this
market segment and means: photovoltaics for everyone!
challenge
plug-in solar technology enables not only homeowners but also apartment renters to
to generate electricity. With balcony power plants, you can become more independent from rising supplier
prices and contribute to the decentralized climate transition. Unfortunately, the bureaucratic hurdles
high for operation, while the yield of previous practical solutions was limited due to circuit breaker reasons
is low. With our ready2plugin algorithm, we offer an alternative: standard-compliant, safe
systems that are many times more powerful! For this, we need a reliable, compact
comfortable measurement without intervention in the existing electrical system.
solution
The indielux power monitor with ready2plugin technology monitors and controls the power flow –
both into the household to prevent overload of the electrical installation and overheating of the lines
to protect, as well as to the public grid, to comply with the regulations of this power class for laypersons
connection to be maintained. It continuously receives the necessary data from the intelligent three-phase energy sensor
(a Shelly 3EM or 3EM Pro), which calculates two-way consumption, i.e., both grid feed-in and
solar power feed-in measurement. This device can be installed in the meter box without conversion measures
delivered and can also be configured for single-phase systems.
result
Supported by the Shelly 3EM, the indielux power monitor uses ready2plugin technology to make
dynamic line reserve usable and can finally overcome the common limitation of mini PV systems
capacities of 600 watts to (de)activate – without the use of an electrician. It optimizes self-consumption
and allows for the first time the plug-in of storage units to the household socket. This makes it possible
to use generated electricity with a time delay and connect up to 4000 watts of power. Also a later
further upgrades, monitoring of historical data, integration into the smart home, or controlling
an electric car wallbox are possible with this setup.
